Literally a Mamachari is a “ mommy’s bike” in Japanese. Created back in the 1950’s, the Mamachari has become a cultural icon of Japanese culture and a stylish mode of transportation today. It is beloved by all urban riders, across all genders and ages: convenient, safe, it can shuttle a lot including kids, can be ride in everyday clothes with no special athletic proveness, and ride miles and miles with limited maintenance – it is simply just the best way to go errands in the city.

Today, most mamachari come with pedal assist technology and with family models include child carriers. This power horse still represents 80% of bike sales in Japan and millions of cherished family memories.

Yamaha electric bikes can be stored outdoors. Battery and motor unit are safe under the rain. We recommend you to cover them with a tarp to protect them from dust, with a Kryptonite U-lock to prevent theft.

Compact family bikes such are Yamaha PA20BXLR can be used with a child carrier until children reach approximately 6 years old. This is usually the time when they are ready to ride by themselves.

Unlike large cargo bikes and Bakfiets that are single purposed, 3 in 1 family bikes are versatile and can be used without child carriers.

Both the battery and the rear wheel have a dimple key lock to discourage bike lifters.
We recommend you to add a U-lock such as Kryptonite, a staple for any bike that is parked in the street
overnight. Just make sure to choose one that is at least 9-Inch – it is easier to put around a pole. You can place the lock in the bottom of front basket when you ride.

What about spare parts lifting? I see so many bikes with 1 wheel in the street, or without the saddle? To discourage theft, the front and back wheels use axle bolts instead of quick-releases.

The battery is equipped with a key lock. You cannot recharge the battery without the original battery docking station that is sold with the bike anyways.
You do not have to worry about the lights, there are fully integrated in the bike and cannot be easily

To secure the saddle, you can add a small cable lock.

Batteries are not good at being exposed to high temperatures.

Do not store the battery under high temperature, such as in a car in the scorching sun or on the side of the
heating equipment in the winter.

Do not charge under high temperature environment.

Let’s charge at room temperature of about 15 ~ 25 ℃. ( 59- 77 F)
Do not repeatedly charge the fully charged battery.

When the battery is fully charged, deterioration over time increases.

If you do not want to ride for a long time (more than a month), remove it from the vehicle, please leave the
capacity of 1 to 2 lights of the battery remaining light of the battery box, and store it indoors (15 to 25 ° C)
in a place not humid.

Storing the battery in an empty state spontaneously discharges to a lower voltage and promotes
deterioration of the battery.

When storing, please keep the capacity of indoor (15 ~ 25 ℃) · humidity, leaving the capacity of 1 or 2
lights of the remaining battery light lamp.

Please check the remaining battery level once a month. If it is flashing, please charge for about 10 minutes,
so that the remaining amount does not decrease significantly.

Battery life is impacted by changes due to temperature, decrease in tire air pressure.

With a 3-speed gearshift it is easier to adjust optimum gear selection from low speed to high speed
cruising. The shifting operation is smoother.

It also limits the derailleur issues and the need of regular maintenance tune-ups that you can expect with a
8 speed gear.

The Yamaha motor unit is waterproof. We recommend to gently wipe down the motor and battery after your
ride to remove water and dirt. High pressure car wash should be avoided as it can cause malfunction.

The small 20 inch fat tires, F-brake, handle grip and non-slip pedals are design to maximise your stability.

Fenders on your front and rear wheels will keep water on the road from splashing up onto you.

However zero risk does not exist, and roads are more slippery when wet, during and after rain. Please be
extra cautious and ride slowy.

Of course, that is fine. There is no need to cover the terminals. If the motor unit get wet or dirty, simply
wipe it with a dry cloth.

Battery consumption depends on the load and the terrain. In case of steep uphill the battery consumption
will be faster.

If the battery runs out, you can usually ride your pedal assist it as a regular bicycle, without the power
assist. However, as compared with ordinary bicycles, the weight of the motor and battery is slightly heavier.

The distance that the pedal assist can run depends on the place you run and how you run. Mileage per
charge varies depending on the type of bike, as well as road conditions, driving modes, running style,
temperature, vehicle weight and so on. In addition, the mileage shown is the value measured with the
standard pattern, it does not guarantee the mileage per charge.

Mileage is provided as an estimation only. The remaining distance and percentage of the battery left are
estimations that can be impacted by riding conditions.

When charging is completed, the remaining battery charge lamp goes off.
It will not overcharge.
Remove the battery from the charger and unplug the charger’s power plug from the outlet.

Lithium-ion battery has a warranty period of 1 year from the date of purchasing.

* It may become out of warranty depending on the condition of the battery.

With 2 children – 1 in the front 1 in the back carrier, we recommend that both heel touch the floor – 146 cm
or more is the minimum height for the rider.

It is a function that turns off automatically in order to reduce battery consumption when pedaling force is
not applied for more than 5 minutes with the main switch turned on.

Three sensors which adopted “crank rotation sensor” which senses the rotation of the pedal and which
added “torque sensor” and “speed sensor” to “crank rotation sensor” delicately the driving situation in real
time, smooth feeling and optimum ride comfort. This is what is called PAS – Pedal Assist System?

In 1993, Yamaha released the PAS, world’s first electric assisted bicycle. Yamaha been the leader in electric
